Overview of V.A. Appeals Process

If the V.A. has wrongly denied your application for benefits or awarded you an inadequate amount, you should consider an appeal. You can hire an attorney or you can ask a veterans' organization to represent you, but regardless of how you want to be represented, you should educate yourself on the appeals process. A good starting point is the Military.com web page about V.A. appeals, at http://www.military.com/benefits/legal-matters/appeals-process/appeals-process-overview.

There have been recent developments in V.A. appeals, and I will post about them later. In the meantime, bone up on the basics, and keep your terminology straight so that you can have an intelligent conversation with your lawyer or veterans organization representative.
